This case study seeks to explore the vision, plan, leadership, process, and creation of a new downtown Main Library in Nashville.

In his 1995 State of Metro address, Nashville Mayor Philip N. Bredesen stated,

“Our city needs a new main library, and I’m going to undertake seeing that that happens”.

Six years later in 2001, the Main Library opened in downtown Nashville.
